A huge theatre that now stages large-scale theatre and dance productions, its stage has also been used for opera, ballet, zarzuela (Spanish opera) and revue shows. It hosts Caja Madrid's Flamenco Festival every year as well as the annual Spanish and Flamenco Dance Choreography Competition. It's one of the capital's largest theatres with a capacity for 1040 spectators. It opened in 1945, it's the region's official theatre and you'll find it in the heart of the old town.
