The original idea here was to create a mausoleum dedicated to famous figures from Spanish history. In the end the project ran out of steam and only the pantheon and tower were built, forming part of the Basílica de Atocha. Nevertheless, some heavyweight military, political and cultural historical figures are represented. There are 13 in total, including Prim, Ríos Rosas, Cánovas del Castillo, Argüelles and Mendizábal. Valencian sculptor Benlliure contributed some interesting pieces. Admission: free
