Festivals and Fairs

Madrid is definitely one of the most exciting and creative cities in Europe and Los Madrileños need very little excuses when it comes to celebrating festivities and special events.

Although Festivals play a major role in Spanish life in general with every pueblos (village) having its own special fiestas and traditions, Madrid is particularly vibrant in terms of special events probably because of its multicultural background.

Most of the activities are around religious events and include processions, fireworks, bull fighting, dancing, street fairs and various performance.

Mostly concentrated between April and October, people take advantage of the nice weather that Madrid usually offer during this time of the year. Among the most popular events you have la Fiesta de San Isidro (religious festival for Madrid's patron saint), el Dos de Mayo (2nd of May), La Paloma and La noche de San Juan, and el Festival de Flamenco.
