"A mini-bullfighting festival that takes place two or three days prior to the May 2nd celebrations (2 de Mayo) and acts as a sort of warm-up for the major bullfighting festival (Feria de San Isidro) that starts a few days later. Some of the country's outstanding young apprentice bullfighters are tested in the ring at this festival. The most eagerly awaited event is the spectacular corrida goyesca on the second day, when the bullfighters and their team of banderillos and picadors dress up in the sort of colourful 18th-century costumes painted by the brilliant artist, Goya.
