A traditional and authentic Madrid tavern, full of history, that that fills up every day with local politicians, bureaucrats and journalists taking a break from the nearby Town Hall. It serves up hearty stews, chicken fricassee and beef a la riojana as main courses and desserts soaked in Spanish liqueurs. The wine list includes reds from Valdepeñas and Rioja. The old-fashioned interior is all aged wood, cream-coloured walls and heavy oil paintings depicting local customs.
